Food Waste

Did you know...

Almost 50% of the total amount of food thrown away in the UK comes from our homes. We throw away 7 million tonnes of food and drink from our homes every year in the UK, and more than half of this is food and drink we could have eaten.

But what they don't tell you is the supermarkets throw tons of food away every day.

I don't know if I've mentioned I work with homeless people before. Any way some really nice people from a local charity called in the other evening and brought this.

This was only half a car full. Since they have found us they have come every evening and brought much the same quantity. They go to other projects around Manchester. All this food is from one shop. All this waste is just from one shop. I find it unbelievable that all this food went in the bin every day when children are going to school hungry every day!!

Sanding floors

Yesterday I hired a sander the man in the shop put it into my car. When I got home I went to get it out of the car and OMG how heavy was it.......... I phoned my other half to see if he could come and help me......NO he was the other side of Manchester. I just had to try and do it. I nearly broke my back getting it into the house and then I had to get it up the stairs. I don't know where I got the strength from my daughter was shouting go mum go.

I know it doesn't look that heavy but believe me it was. We finished it last night. So hopefully the room will be finished today and I can put my house back together.

September

Hi really dislike this time of year.Everything starts to die in the garden. I feel there's nothing to look forward to but cold damp weather. Even though I love Christmas and I know its on its way. September really depresses me. I  might have to book a quick European trip to have something to look forward to. Maybe we will have an Indian Summer wouldn't that be nice!

A new floor

I spent all day yesterday moving furniture in and out of the dining room. Why so I could sand and stain the floor. It's turned out all right I think.

|Lets Pray for the people of Nepal and surrounding areas

As planeloads of aid material, doctors and relief workers from neighbouring countries pour into Nepal, aid agencies have warned that the death toll is nearing 2,000 and could go much higher.
Hospitals across the impoverished nation are struggling to cope and a lack of equipment means attempting to find supplies and medicines from shops outside.
The poor quality of buildings in the Kathmandu Valley, which has a population of 2.5 million people, makes them susceptible to extensive damage.
Can i ask all my friends to help me help a close friend of mine Areen Amal obtain meds and other items i m planning to send to her to help all the one affected in Nepal
All help appreciated
Get in touch

Thinking about moving

Do you ever get fed up of where you live, I do every now ad again. We then tend to go and have a look whats about and usually come home and think it's not  so bad. Which we have done this time only because the place we found there are only small two bedrooms for sale at the moment.

So we have decided to do some work to our house, Only cosmetic work Maybe then I'll feel more settled for the time being.

I would love to extend and have a big kitchen diner like this one.

With all this nice weather I have been trying to get the garden sorted. It looks a bit unloved at the moment.

This is what I want it to look like in a month or so.

Cats, cats and more cats!!!!

Our beloved cat Peanut passed away in October 2013
Although I said I wouldn't get anymore Kitties, The house was just so empty and I wasn't happy.

We had a look round and went to a shelter and found this little chap.

Meet Pudding. My little Christmas Pudding. He's 7 weeks old.
We had him two days and he was all depressed because he had no one to play with like he did at the shelter. They had no other Kitties that needed a home. So it was off looking again.

Then on the Saturday Morning we brought Chips home. He was only 5 weeks old  and really should have still been with his mother. But the house we got him from was dire!!!! and I would have worried if we hadn't have taken him.

Look at us we are growing!!
